Warren Goldring, Co-Founder AGF Management Limited

  • The Innovator
    • As Co-Founder of AGF, and subsequently its President and Chairman of the Board, Warren was among an elite few who can today be described as the founding fathers of the Canadian Mutual Fund Industry. A true pioneer, under Warren’s guidance, AGF led the way into international markets and consistently developed innovative products to meet the needs of Canadian investors.

  • The Leader
    • Widely respected by his peers in the industry, Warren’s leadership, integrity and commitment to core values were inspirational to many who had the opportunity to work closely with him. Those who worked alongside Warren found him to be a man of principle and discipline as well as someone who was engaging, accessible and sincere.

Throughout his career, Warren consistently demonstrated great vision, leading by example and inspiring those around him to greater success. AGF today is a glowing testament to what can be achieved when someone such as Warren has a vision, passion for what they believe in and an entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Achievements
    • Over the years, Warren received various awards and citations recognizing his professional and philanthropic contributions. In 1998, he was honoured with the Canadian Investment Awards Career Achievement Award for his pioneering and lifelong contributions to the industry. In 2002 he was named Ontario Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young and received the Golden Jubilee Medal of Queen Elizabeth II. In 2003, he was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Toronto.

  • The Entrepreneur
    • Warren and his business partner Allan Manford saw mutual funds as a way for all Canadians to build wealth and achieve their dreams. In 1957, they had the innovative idea to pool the funds of Canadian investors to allow greater access to the U.S. market through the New York Stock Exchange. Named the American Growth Fund, this became the very first U.S. equity fund for Canadian investors. Warren and his partner used the acronym from this fund to name the new company AGF.

  • His Legacy
    • Warren’s career at AGF spanned 54 years and under his leadership the firm grew to be a top five leading mutual fund company.

Today, AGF is an independent and globally diverse asset management firm delivering excellence in investment management through fundamental, quantitative, alternative and high-net-worth businesses while providing an exceptional client experience.

AGF’s suite of investment solutions now extends globally to a wide range of clients, from financial advisors and individual investors to institutional investors including pension plans, corporate plans, sovereign wealth funds and endowments and foundations. And 64 years after Warren co-founded AGF, the firm now has investment operations and client servicing teams on the ground in North America, Europe and Asia.
