Fundamental

Equity investments historically are an important tool in portfolios to grow capital and accumulate wealth for investors. In an increasingly challenging environment, the ability to meet these objectives requires substantial experience and skill. At AGF, our tenure, expertise and access to global firm resources has allowed us to maintain a disciplined approach while embracing a spirit of research and innovation to adapt.

Our fundamental North American strategies are positioned to be at the forefront of market changes, offering a diverse line-up in a variety of investment vehicles including mutual funds and separately managed accounts.

AGF’s Canadian growth equity strategies aim to invest in companies with strong earnings growth, high-quality management and solid free cash flow that are trading at attractive valuations. Well-diversified across sectors, the team utilizes a growth-at-a-reasonable price (GARP) approach with front-end quantitative screens to identify companies that will be secular winners across the market capitalization spectrum. The team pays particular attention to identifying inefficiencies in the small and mid-cap universes in order to generate alpha.

We believe:

The small-mid cap market is inefficient.

Therefore we:

Utilize a wide range of industry contacts to uncover best ideas.

We believe:

Good management will continue to execute better than their peers.

Therefore we:

Endeavor to meet as many management teams as possible.

We believe:

In small cap, fundamentals matter.

Therefore we:

We focus on real companies with above average earnings growth. No concept stocks.

Market leadership is determined by innovation and the macro environment.

Therefore we:

Invest in growth companies benefiting from new products/service and favourable end markets.

We believe:

Market leadership changes from cycle to cycle as companies innovate and with changes in the economic cycle.

Therefore we:

Maintain objectivity through our willingness to purchase every stock held in the portfolio every day.

We believe:

Stock prices reflect consensus estimates.

Therefore we:

Identify catalysts yet to be incorporated into forecasts.
