Martin Hubbes, CFA, was named Chief Investment Officer in June 2005. After joining the company in 1992 as an investment analyst, Martin was appointed managing director of AGF Management (Deutschland) GmbH in Berlin the following year. He returned to Canada in 1994 and became lead portfolio manager of AGF Canadian Stock Fund in 1996.
In addition to this mandate, Martin is the lead manager of AGF Canada Class and co-manager of AGF Global Health Sciences Fund. He was the lead manager of AGF Canadian Growth Fund, which merged in 1998 with AGF Canadian Equity Fund to form AGF Canadian Stock Fund.
Martin earned a B.Sc and M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University. He is a member of the Toronto CFA Society.
Philosophy: Martin uses a bottom-up growth style with the objective of identifying companies with rising sales, earnings and/or cash flow that are trading at a reasonable price.
