Randy G. Ambrosie was appointed President of AGF Funds Inc. in June 2006. AGF Funds Inc. is one of several wholly-owned subsidiaries of AGF Management Limited, a premier global investment management firm based in Canada.
As President of AGF Funds Inc., Randy is responsible for developing the vision and implementing strategies to deliver excellence by combining world-class investment management with financial solutions to provide the right investment products to help clients and unit-holders achieve their desired financial goals.
He oversees all aspects of Funds Inc. such as sales and marketing, investment management, strategic account assets and international business development. The company’s products include a diversified family of more than 50 mutual funds, the evolutionary AGF Elements portfolios and the Harmony asset management program.
Since joining AGF in May 2004 as Senior Vice-President of Marketing and Sales, Randy has made a significant contribution to the company’s successes. He led a turnaround in sales by introducing enhanced advisor services and an active client engagement program. He has close to 20 years of investment industry experience – ranging from his start as a financial advisor through to his current role as President of AGF Funds Inc.
Previous to his work with AGF, Randy was the North American Sales Director for HSBC Securities with responsibility for its brokerage sales force in the U.S. and Canada. He began his career as an Investment Executive at Nesbitt Thomson and then Midland Walwyn, where he rose through the ranks to become Regional Manager for Ontario. After acquisitions by Merrill Lynch and then CIBC Wood Gundy, Randy was appointed Managing Director for the Western region.
Randy also draws on the leadership and team building skills he developed in his nine years in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He attributes his desire to lead others towards a common goal and a commitment to hard work and going the extra mile as qualities he drew on while playing football and now uses as a business leader.
As a guard on the offensive line, he played for the Calgary Stampeders, the Toronto Argonauts and in 1993 won a Grey Cup championship with the Edmonton Eskimos.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, he holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba where he played for the Manitoba Bisons and earned all Canadian Status in 1984. Randy has served on several fundraising committees and was a member of the CFL Pension Advisory Board.
Randy and his wife, Barb, make their home in Oakville with their three daughters.
