Blake C. Goldring is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors of AGF Management Limited, one of Canada’s premier investment management companies with operations across Canada and subsidiaries in Europe and Asia.
He was honoured with the industry's coveted Person of Influence Award at the 2007 Canadian Investment Awards.
Named as Chairman in 2006, Chief Executive Officer in 2000 and President in 1997, Blake has led the growth of AGF’s business, which today manages approximately $50 billion in total assets for retail and institutional clients.
Responsible for developing and overseeing the company’s strategic direction, Blake has played a critical role in turning AGF into a diversified investment management firm by leading the company into new directions in wealth management.
During his senior management tenure, AGF has grown its assets significantly and the company has expanded into new business lines, sold and acquired new businesses, recruited top management and seen its revenues and assets rise significantly.
Blake first joined AGF in 1987, from a major Canadian bank, where he worked in corporate and government banking. Blake was initially responsible for AGF’s Japanese and Asian portfolios and helped set up AGF International Advisors Company Limited in Dublin. He held a series of senior positions including Vice-President for Eastern Canada and Senior Vice-President of Sales and Marketing before being appointed President and Chief Operating Officer in 1997.
Blake holds an Honours BA in Economics from the University of Toronto and a Masters of Business Administration from INSEAD in France. He serves on the Lawrence Centre Advisory Council at the Richard Ivey School of Business and The President’s International Alumni Council at the University of Toronto.
He believes in giving back to the community and is a Director of the Canadian Film Centre and the World Wildlife Fund of Canada. He is a Trustee of the Bishop Strachan School and has served as a Past President of the National Club and was Chair of The Bishop’s Company. He is also a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, and both the local and international chapters of the Young President’s Organization. In addition, Blake is Past Chair, INSEAD Alumni Fund, where he oversaw a successful fundraising campaign targeted at 20,000 alumni in 60 countries.
Blake holds the rank of Colonel in the Canadian Army, and in January 2006, was appointed Honorary Colonel of The Royal Regiment of Canada, the second-largest Reserve Force Infantry Regiment. He is Chairman of the Canada Company, created in 2006, to bring community leaders across Canada together to support Canadian soldiers in the work they do at home and abroad.
A member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts, a CFA Charterholder and a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, Blake and his wife Belinda have three daughters and live in Toronto. He enjoys spending time outdoors and counts golf, tennis and fishing among his favourite after-work activities.
