As a proud Canadian company with a global reach, AGF is strongly committed to giving back to the community. We believe that with prosperity comes a sense of corporate responsibility and have a long history of supporting organizations that protect the environment, promote a vibrant arts culture and make our community a better place to live and work. AGF is committed to improving society as a whole and making a difference in our own neighbourhoods. Over the years, we have supported the volunteer activities of our staff and board members, encouraged employee fund raising campaigns and donated to various charitable and non-profit organizations. | WORLD WILDLIFE FUND-CANADA |
- AGF first began partnering with WWF-Canada in the 1980s to raise awareness about the Sumatran tiger – our corporate symbol.
- Over the years, we have worked with WWF-Canada to save the highly endangered Sumatran tiger and to educate the public about the WWF-Canada’s efforts to protect all endangered species.
- AGF has been actively involved in various projects, including:
- The creation of the WWF Wildlife Trade Program to protect the habitat and security of the Sumantran tigers and seven to 10 endangered sub-species.
- The conservation of the Northwest Atlantic Eco-region.
- The development of Marine Protected Areas.
- To mark the 50th anniversary of AGF and the 40th anniversary of WWF-Canada, we have committed an additional $500,000 over the next five years to support Canada’s Living Planet Achievements Fund. This fund is dedicated to protecting Canada’s freshwater, oceans, forests and ensuring endangered species continue to thrive in a healthy climate.
- With this new contribution and through donations and other fundraising events, AGF has committed $1.06 million over the past two decades.
- AGF supports the Toronto Zoo in its efforts to bring further awareness to the endangered Sumatran tigers and preserve their population – approximately 400 Sumatran tigers remain in the wild.
With AGF's support, the Zoo's Species Survival Plan used genetic pairing and research to match female tiger Brytne with male tiger Rengat. In 2003 they became parents to Kougra, Chelsea and their brother Skylar – the first cubs born in Canada and in 2006 they welcomed twin girls Kali and Indah. - AGF has sponsored the Toronto Zoo through a number of projects, including:
- The Zoo's Reproductive Physiology Program, which engages in vital research to save species at risk.
- The complete renovation and expansion of the AGF Sumatran Tiger Exhibit.
- The AGF Tiger-Cam, a 'first of its kind' web cam showing the cubs' growth and development from their den. The webcam was voted one of the ‘Top Ten’ best web cams in the world by www.earthcam.com
- The Zoo's ‘Adopt an Animal’ programme.
AGF has been a supporter of Toronto Zoo since 1994 and has contributed more than $288,000.

| THE UNITED WAY OF GREATER TORONTO |
AGF has actively participated in the annual United Way Corporate fundraising drive that has raised millions of dollars over the years to support Toronto charities since 1991. This partnership was initiated by AGF co-founder C. Warren Goldring, who joined with other concerned and community-minded citizens to actively promote the concept of pooling community resources in the 1950s. This concept of integrated giving and pooling of resources is the foundation of the United Way’s philosophy and is very similar to AGF’s vision today. Since 1991, AGF has contributed $1,402,052, including $475,150 in corporate donations and $926,902 in employee fundraising.
AGF has also made financial contributions to a number of organizations with local and global reach including, Toronto-area hospitals, Ryerson Polytechnic University, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and other non-profits. We are proud of our philanthropic history and look forward to continuing to give and participate in the community. |
